Schedule C is the tax form filed by most sole proprietors. As you can tell from its title, "Profit or Loss From Business," it´s used to report both income and losses. Many times, Schedule C filers are self-employed taxpayers who are just getting their businesses started.
What is Schedule C expense?Schedule C - Depletion Business expenses are the costs of carrying on a trade or business, and they are usually deductible if the business is operated to make a profit. While TaxAct ® does not support the calculation for depletion, such as for Line 12 of Schedule C (Form 1040) Profit or Loss From Business , you are able to calculate the amount and enter it in that field on your return.
When is a Schedule C required? You can use the Schedule C-EZ if you have a profit from your business and your expenses are less than $5,000, no inventory, no employees, and you are not using depreciation or deducting the cost of your home.
